Council recognises the importance of working with local schools regarding waste avoidance and resource recovery. The Council’s school waste education programs are in line with curriculum objectives and are available to all schools in the Local Government Area free of charge.
Suez’s WasteD Time Program
Council’s waste collection contractor - Suez, offers an education program for pre-schools, primary schools and high schools. This program focuses on waste and recycling issues and involves school incursions by qualified teachers from waste industry backgrounds.
The program is designed to help the school community be waste-wise while supporting the curriculum outcomes. Area covered include packaging, recycling, composting and worm farming.

Speaking 4 the Planet
Speaking 4 the Planet is an arts-based competition for high school students. It is the first time been offered to high schools in the Parramatta City Council area. It helps strengthen skills in advocating for healthy communities and a healthy planet. The focus of the annual competition is UNEP’s World Environment Day theme.
This year the theme is:
Beat Plastic Pollution. If you cannot reuse it, refuse it.
Registration currently open with competition scheduled in Term 1, 2019, the final date is to be determined.
